Ojojo is a traditional delicious snack made from water yam. It is commonly prepared in the western part of the country, in the Yoruba tribe. It is not popularly known in the Northern and Eastern part of Nigeria. Would rather say, it's a recipe that is mostly consumed by the Yoruba tribe.
Ojojo is a recipe which is easy to make and do not require much energy. It's simple as ABC. Ojojo can be paired with coaker oat, custard, Pap or cornflakes.
Ojojo happens to be one of my favorites, I love this recipe so much, most especially whenever I take it strawberry custard. It taste good and yummy. It is the best thing I can make when it's available. I don't really love to make use of water yam to prepare white yam. It is not a Yes for me. So I go for what I love. And I make it to my taste. I love it when it is hot, it taste crunchy and sweet to eat.
Water Yam Balls (Ojojo) is similar to Beans cake (Akara). Akara is made from beans, and Ojojo is made from Water Yam, but the same procedure in making them. Both snacks doesn't require much ingredients or spicy. It's simple.
INGREDIENTS
. 1/2 tuber of Water Yam
. 1/2 ltr groundnut oil
. 1 tsp powdered crayfish
. 5 scotch bonnet pepper
. Onion
. Salt
. 1 Maggi
INSTRUCTIONS
. Peel the water yam, place into a bowl of water immediately. You are doing this in order to avoid the water yam get brown or red if opened to air.
. Rinse yam, and grate with the smallest part of the grater. You can rather choose to blend with a blender. Water Yam should be cut in big sizes in order to be able to hold firmly while grating it. For the other option, the yam should be cut into smaller sizes, and water should be added to the blender for easy and smooth blending.

. Fill in a frying pan with groundnut oil for frying on the cooker on a medium heat. Begin to take in quantity using a soup spoon into the hot oil. Fry till light golden brown. Flip to the other side. Fry till light golden brown.
. Repeat same procedure till you are done frying. Ojojo is ready. Pair with any drink of your choice.
