Tuwo Shinkafa is a lovely food with a natural taste mostly eaten by the Hausas. This is one of the best swallow food for the Hausas, like we the yorubas. We love taking pounded yam. So also it is for the Hausas.

Tuwo can either be prepared with rice flour or corn flour. But would strictly be explaining Tuwo Shinkafa made from rice flour or raw rice.

How To Make Tuwo Shinkafa

There are two method of making Tuwo Shinkafa.

. By cooking raw rice itself

. By using rice flour (which is the best)

PROCEDURE

. By Cooking Raw Rice

1.) Measure and wash 4cups of rice into a 5 cups of boiled water. Do not add salt to it. Remember we aren't making white rice, but rather still.... Tuwo Shinkafa.

2.) Cook rice till it gets very soft, and soaked together with the water. Make sure the water gets dried.

3.) Begin to use a turning stick to pound the rice together, till it looks stretched out together. Press and pound.

4.) Gently use your hands to form a round shape with it. Roll round together till it gives you that perfect round shape. Repeat the same procedure till you are done with the rice.

. By using Rice flour

1.) Boil 5 cups of water. Get 3 cups of rice flour. Take away 2 cups of water from the water when fully boiled.

2.) Gently pour the cups of rice flour into the water, and begin to use a turning stick to mix together. Add water to the mixture when necessary. Turn and mix well to avoid balls in it.

3.) Continue this procedure, till you get a smooth Tuwo. All done on a medium heat to cook as you are turning it. Just as if you are making Amala. This takes 7minutes.

4.) Tuwo Shinkafa is ready. Serve with any soup of your choice.
